Two kinds of answer generator
| Prep generator | Real-time generator | |
|---|---|---|
| When it runs | Before the interview | During the interview |
| How the question gets in | You type or paste it | It hears the interviewer, or reads the screen |
| Uses your background | Only what you paste each time | Resume, job description and instructions saved once |
| Best for | Rehearsing common questions | The question you did not expect |
| Examples | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, free web tools | Solvro, Final Round AI, LockedIn AI |
Both are useful. Rehearse with a prep generator, and keep a real-time one for the live call, where an unexpected question can still catch you out.
How Solvro writes an answer live
Interview mode transcribes the interviewer from your computer's system audio, works out where the question ends, and writes an answer with your resume, the job description and your custom instructions in view. The answer appears in a desktop overlay within seconds, while the interviewer is still finishing the question or waiting for you. A follow-up such as "what was the result?" builds on the previous answer, because the conversation keeps its context. For the full pipeline, see how an AI interview assistant works.
Questions you can see rather than hear work too. Capture the screen with CtrlShiftS in Query mode, add a note if you want one, and send it with CtrlEnter.
What a good generated answer looks like
An answer you can use under pressure is short and front-loaded. Set it up once with a custom instruction such as "lead with a one-line answer, then three short bullets with one number":
Example answer shape
Question: "Why do you want to work here?" One line: "Your payments platform is the problem I have spent four years on." Then three bullets: the system you built and its scale, the part of this role that extends it, and one thing from the job description you want to learn.
The first line gets you talking. The bullets are prompts for the rest, in your own words.
The questions almost everyone gets
These come up in most interviews. Here is what a strong answer needs, and what Solvro draws on to write it.
| Question | What a strong answer needs | What Solvro uses |
|---|---|---|
| Tell me about yourself | Present role, one past highlight, why this job next | Resume summary and the job title |
| Why should we hire you? | Two or three matches between your record and the job | Job description and resume |
| What is your biggest weakness? | A real weakness and what you are doing about it | Extra context you add in Settings |
| Tell me about a conflict at work | A STAR story with your own actions and a result | Stories in your extra context |
| Why are you leaving your job? | A forward-looking reason, nothing negative | Extra context and custom instructions |
| Where do you see yourself in five years? | Growth that fits the role on offer | Job description |
| What are your salary expectations? | A researched range and flexibility | Your instructions |
| Do you have questions for us? | Two specific questions about the team or the work | Job description |

Speed, voice and length
- Speed: the Gemini models answer fastest; Claude Opus 5 and Claude Fable 5 take a moment longer and reason more deeply. Switch with CtrlShiftM.
- Voice: Solvro hears voice, through system audio. It does not speak the answer; it shows it as text, and you say it.
- Length: custom instructions control it. Short bullets suit live calls; longer answers suit one-way video interviews with a prep timer.
Is there a free version?
Every account starts with 10 free AI answers and 10 minutes of Interview mode, with no card. For rehearsal before the interview, a free general chatbot works well too; see ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini for interviews.
Check the rules first
Most employers and assessment platforms prohibit outside help in their terms. Solvro keeps its window out of screen captures, but no tool can promise it will never be noticed, and breaking those rules can cost you an offer. Decide for yourself whether that risk is worth taking.
Frequently asked questions

They draw on your resume, the job description and the stories you add in Settings, so the examples are yours. Ask for short bullets and speak from them rather than reading them out.
