An interview copilot is an app that sits beside your video call or coding test, hears or reads the question, and shows you a suggested answer within seconds. Solvro does this in four modes: Interview for spoken questions, Coding Test for programming problems, MCQ for multiple-choice tests and Query for anything else on your screen.
Step 1: Create an account and install the app
Create a free account. Every account starts with 10 AI answers and 10 minutes of Interview mode, with no card, which is enough to finish this whole guide.
Then download Solvro:
- Windows: run
solvro.exe. It installs and opens on its own. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. Your dashboard can also generate a one-line PowerShell install command that is unique to your account. - macOS (Apple Silicon): open the
.dmg, drag Solvro into Applications and open it. If macOS blocks it, go to System Settings, Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. Allow Screen Recording and Microphone when asked: screenshots and Interview mode need them.
Sign in inside the app with the same account.
Step 2: Give it your context
This is the step most people skip, and the one that makes answers sound like you. Open Settings on the website:
- Interview topic: the role in a few words, such as "SDE 1" or "Senior product manager".
- Personal info: upload your resume as a PDF and let it be formatted, or paste your summary and experience.
- Job description: paste it or upload the PDF.
- Extra context: anything an interviewer might probe: a career change, a gap, the strengths you want to lead with.
- Custom instructions: how you want answers shaped. For example: "Give the key point in one line, then three short supporting bullets."
Interview answers now draw on your own projects and numbers instead of a generic template.
Step 3: Learn five shortcuts
Every action in Solvro has a shortcut, and you can reassign any of them. The interview platform underneath never receives them. These five cover almost everything:
| Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
| CtrlShiftS | Capture the screen into the queue. Press again for each extra page. |
| CtrlEnter | Send the queue (and any typed context) for an answer. |
| CtrlShiftSpace | Switch mode: Interview, Coding Test, MCQ, Query. |
| CtrlSpace | Hide or show the window instantly. |
| CtrlShiftA / CtrlShiftX | Start or stop Interview mode. |
Useful extras: CtrlShift] and CtrlShift[ change the window's opacity, CtrlShiftM switches model, CtrlShiftL switches programming language, and CtrlUp / CtrlDown scroll a long answer.
Step 4: Pick your mode and model
- Live conversation (behavioural, HR, case or technical discussion): Interview mode. Start it with CtrlShiftA before the call; it transcribes the conversation and answers each question as it is asked. CtrlShiftN marks a new question if you want a fresh answer.
- Coding assessment or live coding: Coding Test mode. Capture, send, read the approach, write or auto-type the code.
- Multiple-choice test: MCQ mode.
- Anything else on screen: Query mode. Capture it, type a question, and ask follow-ups.
For models, the Gemini models are fastest; Claude Opus 5 and Claude Fable 5 reason more deeply on hard problems. Switch any time with CtrlShiftM. The full list is Gemini 3.7 Flash, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Opus 5 and Claude Fable 5.
Step 5: Rehearse once
Before a real interview, run one practice call with a friend on the platform you will use (Zoom, Teams, Meet or Webex):
- Start Interview mode and let your friend ask three questions from the job description.
- Answer out loud using the suggestion as notes, not as a script.
- Share your entire screen and ask your friend what they can see.
- Try one coding problem in Coding Test mode if your process has a technical round.
- Set the window's position and opacity so you can read it while still looking near your camera.
Step 6: On the day
- Open Solvro before you join the call, check the mode, and start Interview mode.
- Glance, then speak. Use the first line of the answer to get started and the bullets as memory joggers; nobody wants to hear an answer read aloud.
- If an answer misses the point, ask again with CtrlShiftN, or capture what is on screen with CtrlShiftS for context.
- Afterwards, note the questions that caught you out and add better examples to your Extra context for next time.
Check the rules first
Most employers and assessment platforms prohibit outside help in their terms. Solvro keeps its window out of screen captures, but no tool can promise it will never be noticed, and breaking those rules can cost you an offer. Decide for yourself whether that risk is worth taking.
Frequently asked questions
Solvro handles live interviews (behavioural, HR, case and technical discussions) in Interview mode, coding assessments in Coding Test mode, multiple-choice tests in MCQ mode, and anything else on screen in Query mode.
Interview mode returns a structured answer within seconds of the question. The Gemini models are the fastest; Claude Opus 5 and Fable 5 take a little longer and reason more deeply.
Yes. Every account gets 10 free AI answers and 10 minutes of Interview mode with no card. Paid plans start at $29 a month, or $24 for a 7-day Sprint Pass.
Yes, and the setup helps. Add your resume, the job description and custom instructions so suggestions draw on your own experience, then use them as notes rather than reading them out.
