Staying out of the share
Both are desktop apps that keep their window off a screen share. Interview Coder lists its stealth features in detail: hidden from the Dock, the tray and Activity Monitor, click-through, and audio support.

It also publishes a daily-tested list of the meeting and assessment platforms it works with.

The weak spot is pop-ups. In a reviewer's test on a second laptop watching the screen share, opening Interview Coder's language picker showed the dropdown in the shared screen.

Solvro sets the operating system's content-protection flag, which excludes its window from screen capture and recording, and it avoids the problem of pop-ups by keeping everything on shortcuts: CtrlShiftL switches the programming language, CtrlShiftM the model, CtrlShiftSpace the mode. Whatever tool you use, rehearse a full screen share before the real thing.
Check the rules first
Most employers and assessment platforms prohibit outside help in their terms. Solvro keeps its window out of screen captures, but no tool can promise it will never be noticed, and breaking those rules can cost you an offer. Decide for yourself whether that risk is worth taking.
Reading the problem
Both tools capture the screen with a hotkey. Solvro adds a queue: press CtrlShiftS once for each screen of a long problem (up to 20), then CtrlEnter sends them as one question, with any extra context you typed.

Talking with the interviewer
Interview Coder's audio mode needs you to press Start Interview, Pause and Finish at the right moments; miss one and the AI may hear only half a question. Solvro's Interview mode transcribes continuously and detects each question on its own, so you never touch it while someone is talking. CtrlShiftN marks a new question if you want a fresh answer.
Personalisation and models
Interview Coder asks for your role and years of experience once, from a short list such as "Software Engineer, 3 to 5 years", and does not say which model it uses.
Solvro takes your resume, the job description, extra context such as a career change, and free-form custom instructions, for example "explain the approach in two lines before the code". You choose between Gemini 3.7 Flash, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Claude Sonnet 5, Claude Opus 5 and Claude Fable 5: a fast Gemini model for a warm-up question, Claude Opus 5 or Fable 5 for a hard dynamic programming problem.
History and refining an answer
Interview Coder keeps no chat history, so if an answer is not right, you can only regenerate it. Solvro keeps the conversation's context, so you can ask "now do it in O(1) space" or "explain why this handles duplicates", and CtrlR starts afresh when the next problem begins.
Getting the code into the editor
Solvro's auto-typing types the solution into whichever window you click, keystroke by keystroke with varied human timing, instead of pasting it. F8 stops it and CtrlShiftY resumes from the exact character where it stopped.

Pricing

Interview Coder is a free download, but its AI features need a plan: Monthly Pro at $299 a month with 1,000 usage credits, or Lifetime Pro at $799 (listed at $1,598; it was $899 on an earlier visit). Either is a lot to pay for a job search that usually lasts a few months.
Solvro is a subscription you can stop at any time, or a pass for one interview week:

Our verdict
For most candidates, Solvro is the better choice: it covers the whole interview loop, not just the coding round, for a fraction of the up-front cost.
- Interview mode answers spoken follow-ups automatically, with no Start, Pause or Finish buttons.
- Personalisation from your resume, the job description and custom instructions, not just a role and experience band.
- Conversation history, so you can refine an answer instead of regenerating it.
- $24 for an interview week or $49 a month, against $299 a month or $799 up front.
Interview Coder may still suit you if you only face coding rounds and expect to be interviewing for many months.

Yes. Interview mode transcribes the conversation and answers each spoken question automatically, and the conversation keeps context so you can refine a coding answer.
Yes. Both handle behavioural questions too. Solvro also has an MCQ mode for multiple-choice tests and a Query mode for anything else on screen.
It depends on the model. In Solvro, the Gemini models return answers fastest, and you can switch to Claude Opus 5 or Fable 5 for harder problems.
